Why do you enjoy your job?
I am a data and reporting analyst in the manager research team. My role involves communicating with fund managers about client information, liaising with other members of the team and doing quantitative calculations on excel. My analytical, numerical and communication skills make it useful when doing calculations, interacting and requesting information from co-workers across different levels in the company; as well as with fund managers from different companies. Lastly, my willingness to learn and my intellectual curiosity make this job a perfect role to learn about the investment industry.
What is the most challenging thing about your job?
Accuracy and organisation are the most challenging aspects as I am responsible for several different clients and I must make sure I get the exact information from the fund managers, everything is calculated and put in correctly and that I always meet client deadlines.
How did you get into your job?
I graduated from the University of York in July 2016 where I studied mathematics and statistics. I spent a few months travelling and started applying for jobs thereafter. I met someone at a gathering who recommended Investment20/20 because that was how she got her first job. I applied through the website, and the rest is history.
What are your future aspirations?
I see myself working in this company for a few years, understanding the different roles, departments, the industry and getting a qualification. Then focusing on the liability driven investment side of the company and maybe becoming a strategic investment consultant later down the line.
How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?
So far, Investment20/20 has been a warm and welcoming experience, and a great way to be introduced into the investment industry.
