Why do you enjoy your job?

I currently work in the central onboarding team at JP Morgan Asset Management. The job I do involves aspects of anti-money-laundering (AML) and know your customer (KYC) checks, in regards to politically exposed people, suspicious activity, negative media, and client onboarding. I think I am suited to my role as I have an analytical mind, which is important when investigating and reviewing important information relating to our clients. I also work methodically which is helpful when it comes to completing tasks with many stages and processes.

I am interested in the investment industry so enjoy looking at lots of other companies within our industry and gaining an understanding of its structure.

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

The thing I find most challenging about my role is that sometimes some tasks can be lengthy and repetitive in nature.

How did you get into your job?

After school I did work experience at the London Metal Exchange which I really enjoyed and confirmed for me that I wanted to work in the City; then I joined a small foreign exchange trading houses a sales executive giving me valuable experience and providing me with many attributes such as professional communications and analytical skills. However I was keen to move into a larger industry and a more established company. While looking for a new role I came across the Investment20/20 programme and found their application processes incredibly easy and a great way to apply to multiple companies, all under one website.

What are your future aspirations?

The Investment20/20 programme has been such an insightful programme and offered exposure to many different avenues within our industry. It’s really helped me to understand the different career paths available to us. Personally I have an open mind when it comes to my future career and I am always looking for new and exciting opportunities.

How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?

Investment20/20 has been a great help with getting my ‘foot in the door’ to a very competitive industry, and without such a supportive programme I don’t think I would be working at a multi-national company like JP Morgan, so early in my career. Overall It is a valuable opportunity which if embraced will lead to a successful long-term career.
