Why do you enjoy your job?
I work in data services at Schroders. My role is based around the data management of clients and related setups. This involves setups, amendments and data cleansing. We continuously liaise with other teams and internal clients, which gives me the opportunity to meet people across the firm. There are also fantastic opportunities in terms of learning and development, and managers are very happy to support you. There is a great focus on your development, which not only helps the company but also develops your skill set and employability.
How did you get into your job?
After school, I started working as a PA in an advisory firm but I knew this was not the career I wanted to follow. I was keen to enter the investment management industry and so I researched school leaver roles in investment. I found Investment20/20 and as I knew Schroders had a fantastic reputation I applied for the trainee programme.
What are your future aspirations?
I hope to continue working at Schroders and to continue to develop in all aspects. I’m lucky to have such fantastic support from my manager and company to progress in experience and qualifications. I would like to develop my understanding of the business and industry as a whole, and hopefully use this understanding to progress my career.
How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?
Investment20/20 has been fantastic in giving me the opportunity to gain experience in asset management which may not have previously been available. The programme has shown me that there are opportunities out there regardless of your experience- and one of the highlights is the network of trainees both from Schroders and other firms and all the opportunities for us to meet up, whether at Investment20/20 career talks or charity events.
