Why do you enjoy your job?

As a Trainee Analyst in the London Middle Office, I work with AllianceBernstein’s (AB) global operations teams to help ensure the trades we execute are confirmed and settled in an efficient and timely manner. My role affords me the opportunity to gain a phenomenal amount of exposure, as I interact with a number of internal and external teams – from AB’s Trading Desks to the operations departments at global investment banks. With a head for numbers, a love of organising and a keen interest in the global financial markets – the role is an incredible opportunity.

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

When I first started, one of the most challenging aspects was getting to grips with all the systems, procedures, terms and acronyms. It almost seems like learning another language! Luckily, I am part of a great supportive team that help me learn and develop every day.

How did you get into your job?

Having finished Sixth Form, I was unsure as to the next steps I should take in my education/career. After spending some time working locally, I started investing in my own modest equity portfolio and loved researching my investments and avidly following the financial markets. I settled on a career in financial services, I looked for apprenticeship/traineeship opportunities and soon discovered the Investment20/20 programme. It was a godsend! Having now got my ‘foot in the door’, I am truly grateful to Investment20/20 and the platform they provide – highlighting to students the incredible opportunities available.

How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?

Investment20/20 is providing me with a fantastic foundation for my career in financial services. The courses and events organised have also been brilliant – providing the opportunity to learn about the industry and network with hundreds of other trainees at dozens of City firms.
