Why do you enjoy your job?

The Product Management department covers a broad range of capabilities and responsibilities. I like that my day can involve anything from a fund launch, to research, to the writing and distributing of a business case. The level of responsibility I have been given in my role has been beyond my expectations. Because of the large range of functions covered by the team, we work with almost every department at Invesco and I am entrusted to work with them on behalf of my team. I am also lucky enough to be involved in high level discussions about current trends in the asset management industry. The decisions that are made in Product surrounding these topics can have a lasting business impact and I find it an exciting space to be in.

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

Despite having an Economics background, the most challenging aspect of my job has been getting to grips with the vast range of knowledge required in Product. For the first couple of weeks it was like reading another language with the number of acronyms, people and departments constantly mentioned. Whilst being a challenge, building my understanding of Invesco and the asset management industry has also been one of the most rewarding aspects of my job. As with the more I know, the more value I can bring to my team.

How did you get into your job?

I was studying for my final year exams at university when I received an email from a job board telling me that I had been matched to an Invesco role. I was hesitant to apply given that I was extremely busy at university, but I really liked the look of Invesco and the application process was surprisingly straight forward. I must admit that even after receiving my job offer, I wasn’t particularly sure what my exact role was going to entail. I based my acceptance on the reputation of Invesco, the type of person the job description had described and my interviewers, whom I really liked.

How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?

I am really enjoying my time at Invesco. Having a network of trainees going through a similar process to me, that I can socialise with and confide in, has also helped to make the process of starting work in the asset management industry less daunting and more fun. Even just having people to sit and eat lunch with everyday makes all the difference when you first start. I am looking forward to seeing where my Investment20/20 journey takes me.
