Why do you enjoy your job?

I work in back office operations dealing with the oversight of my firm’s transfer agent/ administrator. It’s interesting stuff, no 2 days are the same it requires problem solving, analysis and effective communication. I am also working on automating processes, moving more of our day to day processes online. Which gives me a unique overview of some of the businesses processes.

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

As a team we liaise with so many different parts of the business from fund managers to compliance and from IT to legal, so finding the right person to communicate with can be difficult. Another challenge is some of the projects that I’ve been working on have never been done before. So, it’s an exciting challenge to see how I can add value and come up with interesting strategies, to tackle the tasks objectives.

How did you get into your job?

I came from university and studied BSc mathematics and economics. I knew I wanted to get into the world of investments but was not sure exactly where to start. I had some offers from start-up fintech companies, but I decided the network and support system given by the Investment20/20 scheme would be more beneficial for someone fresh out of university. I found out about Investment20/20 through looking for vacancies on LinkedIn and stumbled upon the job offer.

What are your future aspirations?

Well firstly I’d like to start and finish the CFA qualification, and transition into front office fund management. I would like to be a fund manager, for me this has been a dream I have had since a was very young due to my love of maths and economics. There aren’t many black fund managers and I want to change that narrative and bring more diversity into the field. Believe it or not I also want to create films and tv shows. I am developing my screen writing skills and so hopefully you’ll see something from me very soon.

How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?

Fun, formidable and full of promise.
