Why do you enjoy your job?

In my role as a customer relationship management (CRM) analyst, I am responsible for building complex reports which provide insightful management information to a wide variety of teams across the business. I also have a small number of CRM projects that I manage, while also participating in a handful of working groups across the business, as a data analyst. I thoroughly enjoy the amount of responsibility and opportunities I am given to positively contribute to the business. Additionally, working with many different teams and gaining exposure to a large proportion of the business is not only extremely interesting, but fantastic for my learning and development.

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

The most difficult part of my job is keeping up with the technical knowledge. In order to successfully support the business and carry out my role, I require in depth knowledge of SLI technology and how it operates, as well an understanding of the investment industry and financial instruments, investment regulation and complex data analysis techniques. The learning curve in the investment industry is incredibly steep, but the rewards are also incredibly high.

How did you get into your job?

I graduated in June 2016 from the University of Stirling with a BA Hons Degree in Business Studies after spending 6 months in Marbella, Spain, at a Professional Golf Academy. Post University, I gained unpaid work experience at Standard Life House. This experience helped me decide that I wanted to pursue a career in financial services.

What are your future aspirations?

In 5 years’ time, I hope to have an Investment Management Certificate, and be in the process of completing the CFA programme. I see myself progressing towards a management position within Standard Life Investments*, based in the front office.

How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?

It’s been fantastic experience so far and I feel like I am learning more and more everyday.

*Standard Life House is now Aberdeen Standard Investments.
