Why do you enjoy your job?
I joined Janus Henderson Investors in 2014 as a marketing assistant via the Investment20/20 scheme. The role entails maintaining the Janus Henderson website, organising event logistics, email communications, proofing marketing documents, managing production and approval of marketing content. I have now progressed to a more specialised area which is in brand and advertising. This involves delivering online and print adverts or content (in line with marketing campaigns) to publishers across UK and Europe. I am a creative person and have good attention to detail which definitely helps within my role.
What is the most challenging thing about your job?
The most challenging part of my job is meeting the deadlines to deliver adverts for multiple publications at one time. Time management is key
How did you get into your job?
After leaving school, I attended college to go on and complete a C&G diploma in Professional Cookery Patisserie. During the summer I did a month’s work experience at Janus Henderson Investors and heard about the trainee scheme. After the course in patisserie, I got a real insight into the industry and realised I much preferred baking as a hobby rather than a career. I completed my application and a short while after, it was accepted. Investment20/20 truly encouraged the fact that I have a completely different background to what it is thought companies in the finance industry may be looking for. The support the scheme provided throughout my time as a trainee meant I got a great start to my career.
What are your future aspirations?
I would like to focus on fine-tuning my skills and to one day progress to being a manager within the team.Trust yourself. You know more than you think you do.
