Prior to joining Standard Life Investments in September 2016, I spent over seven years working offshore in the oil and gas industry. I have lived and worked in several different countries around the world including Australia, Holland and Norway where I operated as a well test technician before finally moving into exploration drilling. Finance and investment have always interested me. I paid particular attention to stocks and shares while working in the oil industry and continued to learn how simple supply and demand can have such a detrimental impact on market volatility. I wanted to change my working life and move into a sector that is both challenging and rewarding. The Investment20/20 programme was an attractive entry into the financial world and I am really enjoying the change in career.
