Corporate Actions Trainee |
School/College Leaver

Why do you enjoy your job?

A corporate action is an event that can affect the stakeholders of a business and they take place every day around the world. When I wake up and hear something on the news like Facebook buying Instagram or the London Stock Exchange merging with the German stock exchange, I know at some point in the day I will be involved somehow with this new event. Being so involved with what is happening in the world makes the role even more interesting.

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

Understanding the various events and the jargon associated with them can be quite challenging, however there are many members of my team with years of experience who can assist me if I have any issues.

How did you get into your job?

While at sixth form I realised I wanted to enter the investment industry, through some work experience placements and personal research. I was unsure whether I really wanted to go to university, particularly in the current job market which makes it very hard for graduates to stand out. I came across the scheme after walking past the Schroders building while on my way to my part time job and decided to apply.

What are your future aspirations?

I hope to go on to a long career in the investment industry, in particular in fixed income. I look to complete the necessary qualifications such as the IMC and CFA to help me get to this position.

How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?

The whole experience has been incredible. I have been able to listen to the stories of some of the biggest players in the industry, visit some of the best institutions in the industry and importantly gained great experience in working in the City!
