Why do you enjoy your job?

I have always been interested in the trading and investment industry, so Investment20/20 was a no brainer for me when I heard about it! I decided to join the operations team as I felt like it would give me the best opportunity to gain an overall understanding on the industry. I am very keen about my sports and have played tennis all my life. I would say I’m a team player which helps within my role, this is key especially for operations as you all work as one big team and help each other out.

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

Having to deal with such a wide variety of daily tasks, it can take a while to fully gain an understanding of the concepts within my role. It’s very easy to learn how to complete your daily tasks but to not fully understand the concept behind why you’re doing it. This knowledge will come with time.

How did you get into your job?

I’m a school leaver who studied triple BTEC sport for my A levels. I think it’s important to understand not to be afraid to try new things even if you haven’t had a background in economics or business. I would say studying something different is a massive advantage these days as it shows your different from the rest, so don’t feel like you’re not the right person if you haven’t got knowledge within the industry already. I looked online and applied for my role on the Investment20/20 website and within a month I had a telephone interview. A few days later they called me in for an interview and I was offered the job within a couple days of leaving the office! Investment20/20 also offers a range of career days which are a massive help! I got to listen to several successful companies and individuals explaining the roles and opportunities available within the industry.

What are your future aspirations?

I would like to complete other industry recognised qualifications which would provide me with the knowledge to become a lot more confident within my role.

How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?

Investment20/20 has introduced me to so many new friends and has helped me massively as a school leaver to gain the confidence and understanding of the financial industry.
