Why do you enjoy your job?

Management information (MI) reporting, is a communication method that allows our team to convey ideas and concepts to the firm, illustrate market trends and ensure an efficient business operation through the dissemination of key information. On both a day-to-day and monthly basis, I relay essential data to a variety of teams within our organization in an effort to help improve operations. It is this exposure to such large and important data sets I find most interesting about my role, given my keen interest in data mining and analytics.

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

The relentless nature of my role is arguably the most challenging part. Given a lot of what I do concerns monthly cyclical reports, the work never seems to end! The repetitive nature of the reports doesn’t help in making it a joyous task either!

How did you get into your job?

I graduated with an MSc in computer science still unclear what career path I wanted to pursue. I received an email from the ‘Big Choice’ on my last day of university detailing the Janus Henderson Trainee scheme and what it had to offer. Straight away I was intrigued and even more so when I found a role advertised that I felt was perfectly suited to me. By late October, after several face-to-face and video interviews, I received a phone call offering me the job.

Whilst I’m only a few months into my Investment20/20 programme, it has ultimately been instrumental in defining the path of my career. The whole experience so far has been greatly educational, and has opened the doors to a challenging and rewarding industry I otherwise may have not felt confident to enter given my non-financial background.

What are your future aspirations?

Thankfully, I’m in a role and team now where I can see myself continue to move forward and develop, hopefully leading to an established career within asset management.

How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?

The Investment20/20 scheme has allowed me to settle quickly into a professional work environment, receive relevant skills development in asset management and get hands on experience through work in my specific role.
