Why do you enjoy your job?
My role is primarily based around regulatory project work, delivering the changes to the business to ensure compliance to new financial regulations. Project work provides an excellent grounding in the business, providing a breadth of exposure, developing your knowledge base in regulations and financial concepts, and improving your soft skills like stakeholder management and organisation.
What is the most challenging thing about your job?
The most challenging things about my job would have to be the need to learn fast whilst also keeping a range of perspectives at the forefront of your mind. In this role one must be ready to assimilate new and complex information but also understand how its impact will be different when applied to distinct parts of the business.
How did you get into your job?
I joined Aviva Investors directly after completing my A-Levels. I applied for Aviva Investors Investment20/20 role through their online application.
What are your future aspirations?
While the financial services industry is attractive in its scale, competition and complexity, the skills and knowledge developed through any experience in finance are applicable in nearly every organisation, corporate or governmental.
How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?
Investment20/20 is a rare and enriching experience; opportunities where a firm will host you and train you from the ground up in both soft and technical skills to the point where you can truly excel in your role are incredibly valuable, but also rather scarce. Furthermore, Investment20/20 bolsters this learning and provides you with a network of coevals and alumni that will support you through this challenging but extremely rewarding journey.
