I joined Janus Henderson just over 8 months ago and currently work in the distribution compliance team. The main role of my team is to provide advice and guidance to the distribution teams within the business, usually through financial promotions and other marketing materials. I enjoy my role as I am able to interact with other business areas and build up my network.
One challenging aspect of my role is understanding the different rules and regulations which govern our industry and how these are put into practice. In compliance I am constantly learning something new, which is something I enjoy.
In a slightly unconventional journey, following my A-Levels at college I went straight into work through the apprenticeship route. I worked at the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) for nearly 2 years, completing a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Business Administration. I then heard about Investment20/20 through a friend who spoke highly of the opportunities available in industry-leading businesses. I applied for a role at Janus Henderson and was accepted on the trainee scheme. My experience so far has been very positive as I have been given many responsibilities and interacted with people across the business.
I enjoy my role within distribution compliance, working with a great team, and would like to stay here to develop my skills and knowledge further. At the same time I would also like to gain greater knowledge of other areas within the business to understand their role and functions. I would also like to pass my IMC (Investment Management Certificate) exam which I am currently studying for.
My Investment20/20 experience is one which I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a foot in the door of the financial industry.
