Why do you enjoy your job?
I work within the Real Estate Income team which is part of a joint venture between M&G’s Fixed Income and Real Estate business. I enjoy my job as it enables me to carry out a variety of different tasks including producing comprehensive reports for the Fund’s investors and modelling transactions for the Fund. M&G has a welcoming culture and values its employees which helped with the transition from school into the working environment.
What is the most challenging thing about your job?
One challenge I face is balancing work alongside studying for the professional qualifications. Whilst on the scheme I was supported by a training provider which enabled me to prepare for my exams by providing excellent revision resources. I also received guidance to help me best manage the work and study balance.
How did you get into your job?
I joined M&G as a Fund Managers Apprentice in September 2015. Prior to joining the Apprenticeship scheme I was studying Mathematics, Business Studies and International Communications technology A-Levels at sixth form.
When starting my job, I had no previous work experience and a limited network of contacts within the industry. I have benefitted from the additional support provided by the scheme as it has given me the opportunity to meet many individuals in the industry on similar schemes to myself and help me build up a network of contacts.
What are your future aspirations?
My future aspirations are to gain the relevant professional qualifications within the industry including the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and the Chartered Financial Analyst qualification (CFA).
How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?
Throughout my time on the Investment20/20 training scheme the resource and support provided was excellent. The scheme allowed me to further develop my knowledge, meet influential individuals within the industry and present to schools to help build upon my presentation skills.
