I work within External Communications, mainly tracking the coverage that our firm receives within the media and, more specifically, financial publications. I thoroughly enjoy this role as it has allowed me to gain a deeper insight and get exposure to all areas of the business. This exposure has allowed me to massively increase my knowledge on the financial sector. It also involves keeping up to date with the forever changing financial environment and more widely general news, which is something I enjoy doing.
One challenging aspect is learning and understanding the large number of acronyms and unfamiliar terms which are used daily. However, you soon pick up what they mean, and people are always on hand to help you should you get stuck. As well as this, adapting to working life at first can be a challenge – but you eventually get used to it.
I found out about Investment20/20 by looking online for potential apprenticeships. When I discovered the website, I was amazed by the number of different firms which were advertising apprenticeships on there. I was always aware that after A Levels I wanted to head straight into work, so Investment20/20 was an ideal starting place for me to look.
Long-term I would like to continue with a career within the asset management industry as I find it incredibly interesting.
I have really enjoyed my experience and believe it is a great path to take post A Levels. The opportunity Investment20/20 provides allows you to get your foot in the door at a young age and learn vast amounts about the industry via first-hand experience. They also host regular events in which you can hear from people who have masses of knowledge about the industry, as well as network with people in a similar position to you.
