Why do you enjoy your job?

I work within the Group Risk department, specifically Business Continuity. This is the planning and process of putting systems in place so that the business can recover from potential threats or actual impactful events. I find it very interesting as you get to liaise with people all over the business and learn what they do as well as what threatens their resilience.

I feel I am suited to my job because I have a logical way of thinking and I feel I am able to plan and organise well in time where pressures may be high. I enjoy my job because of the people around me. Everyone is kind and happy to help. The environment is very positive and encourages me to achieve my full potential.

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

Because the role is new to me and spans a wide range of aspects within the business it can be hard to retain all the information I am constantly learning. However, I am learning lots of new useful information everyday which is allowing me to improve the way I do my job.

How did you get into your job?

I finished my first year of sixth form and failed every subject. I then wasted a year working in a recruitment firm amongst some other temporary roles. I eventually decided to go back to college until I worked out in my mind what I really wanted to do.

Whilst in college I was introduced to the Investment20/20 programme. I initially declined to apply to the programme. However, I was persuaded to change my mind by my head of business. After hearing about the sector and its opportunities, I instantly knew this was something I would be interested in, to start my career.

What are your future aspirations?

At the moment, I am not 100% sure on my future aspirations, but I am very happy in my current role and hope to stay and progress within the business.

How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?

From where I began my journey, with no A levels and no future plans, the Investment20/20 programme has been a life changing experience. The support you get throughout the programme help motivate you to be the best you can be. The knowledge I have gained has been invaluable and will help shape my career in future.
