Why do you enjoy your job?

I enjoy working in Regional Channel Marketing as it exposes me to all the different methods of marketing and advertising across the different regions. My current responsibilities are; to ensure regular channel emails are distributed, that I ensure all marketing collateral is updated, that I am developing my knowledge on all the appropriate marketing systems and that all small scale events and campaigns I am involved in run smoothly. While carrying out my everyday tasks I also make sure I am attending all relevant learning and development training courses and gaining on the job training and coaching from team members.

I feel I am suited to my role as I am an enthusiastic individual who is well organised and is a good team player. This provides me with the correct mind-set for Marketing as I am good at organising events, and ensuring all my work and the work my team produces is kept up to date and relevant for our clients.

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

The most challenging thing about my job is learning how to use all the appropriate marketing systems appropriately and efficiently. This also helps me to keep track on my jobs and to see what team is currently working on the collateral I am producing or whether my job needs updated.

How did you get into your job?

I got into my job when I left school at the beginning of my sixth year, I chose to leave school as I wasn’t certain on what career path to go down so wanted to gain some experience.

During school I took a wide range of subjects but never really found one on particular I was interested in, I also took part in a programme called Career Ready which provided me with four weeks work experience, a mentor and 2 years’ worth of development opportunities. This experience on the programme provided me with the relevant experience and skills to get into the job that I am in today.

Investment20/20 has provided me with relevant work experience to carry on my career in marketing. The programme has also provided me with mass development opportunities to expand on my core skills and make myself more desirable as an employee. The programme has provided me with a footstep into Standard Life Investments which is where I hope to carry on my career after the year’s traineeship.

What are your future aspirations?

My Future aspirations are to carry on a career within the marketing sector in Standard Life Investments*. I have currently enrolled in doing a 5 month digital marketing qualification over the course of my traineeship and also feel this will act as an advantage to being offered a full time position at the end of my programme.

I aspire to enrol in further marketing training opportunities and feel this is the career path I would like to uptake in the future.

How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?

‘Footstep into a worldwide investment company, providing me with the skills and opportunities to be successful with my future career in marketing’

‘The programme has also provided me with mass development opportunities to expand on my core skills and make myself more desirable as an employee’
