Why do you enjoy your job?

My role provides a support function to the sales people within the company, so I help with managing client relationships. This can vary from organising and arranging meetings with various managers and clients, answering any queries a client may have on a specific fund, to just ensuring that the clients are satisfied with the services of Janus Henderson.

I enjoy my role as I have exposure to both fund managers and clients. It’s a role that allows you to keep your fingers on the pulse of the market, while also being heavily client orientated. As clichéd as it sounds, every day is different, the markets always provide something new to say, and with it numerous client questions. In the role I have also been lucky enough to attend different client meetings, lunches and dinners, which are all definite perks.

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

My team is one of the first teams a client may meet, so we act as a focus point for any questions they have. Facing all the different queries is amazing, however it can seem quite daunting at first, especially when it’s a topic you have never heard of and the client needs an answer. However, there is a strong support team around you which makes it a lot easier.

How did you get into your job?

I joined the Investment20/20 scheme as a university graduate. I had heard about the scheme through a friend, and after looking at Janus Henderson’s offering saw an opportunity I thought was perfect for me. The trainee scheme allowed me to enter at a level I felt confident and comfortable with, letting me show some previous experience I had gained but at the same time allowing me to be happy to admit there is so much I still need to learn.

What are your future aspirations?

I am very happy in my current team. It’s hard to say exactly where I want to be in 5 years, but being part of the Investment20/20 scheme allows you to narrow down the search and see what you enjoy.

How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?

Investment20/20 is a great opportunity to find yourself in a brilliant industry, my advice would be to enjoy all that is thrown at you and don’t be afraid to say yes. “Life is 10 percent what happens to me and 90 percent of how I react to it.” – Charles Swindoll.
