Why do you enjoy your job?

I work in the Pan EMEA ETF marketing team in creating and implementing new content and campaigns. I have further developed my communication skills in this role which has been integral when working across different countries and multiple internal departments. The ETF department have a multitude of different investment vehicles and are constantly driving new products which has allowed me to gain exposure to a variety of products and topical themes such as Blockchain and ESG. This has put me in very good stead for a future in the investments industry as I now understand the business functions in companies and the variety of investment products.

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

The most challenging thing about my job has been clear communication. When working to deadlines, organising teams across multiple counties and working alongside teams internally, communicating activities and driving projects requires very clear verbal and written communication.

How did you get into your job?

I graduated from Cardiff University in 2018 with a Bsc Hons in Economics and after this I joined Invesco. I have previously had an internship at Lloyds Banking Group and decided that retail banking was not for me. I studied modules such as Financial Economics and Economics of Banking and decided that investments were the area of finance I wanted to be in. Investment20/20 has helped me to start my career in the investment industry and this foot in the door has been has been indispensable.

What are your future aspirations?

I have spent a year in ETFs and this has given me a holistic view of financial products, types of investing and a greater knowledge of the investments industry. I have been a part of marketing campaigns which have allowed me to build strong communication skills across multiple teams internally. Going forward I would like to move into a product or investments role which will allow me to continue to develop knowledge of markets and investments.

How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?

Investment20/20 is more than a foot in the door. It is a great platform to meet people, develop real life skills and gain invaluable experience over the course of just a year.
