Why do you enjoy your job?

My job is fun, and I think that is why I am so well suited to it! I mainly work under the Advertising and Brand side of Marketing, so if employees need any cool merchandise… I am their first port of call. I publish articles on the Janus Henderson website, and assist in the production of adverts for any upcoming or current campaigns we run. My job really allows me to engage with my creative side, which I never expected in an investment role! I have a huge interest in marketing; my skills in creativity, teamwork, and attention to detail put me well-suited to my role.

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

Coming straight from Sixth Form and leaving my little Essex bubble to be thrown into the city was a huge culture shock for me. Luckily, I have gotten used to the London life now, and I settled into my new lifestyle within a couple of weeks. The Investment industry on occasions can contain some advanced and complicated language, so keeping my brain’s financial industry dictionary up to date is most challenging for me.

How did you get into your job?

In Sixth form, the most commonly used word was ‘University’. For some, the word brought hope and opportunity. For me, it brought uncertainty and dread. I didn’t want to feel like I was going to university just for the sake of it, and I was petrified of choosing a path that wasn’t right for me. So when Investment20/20 came to my school, speaking about the Think Investments programme, it was a blessing in disguise. I learnt so much about the industry from the masterclasses, and was so lucky to visit some glorious investment firm’s offices’. One day, I received an email from Investment20/20, regarding a role in Marketing at Janus Henderson… and I was so excited! Finally something I felt well suited to! Investment20/20 advised me throughout the whole application process, and I owe so much to them for fine-tuning my CV, interview, and workplace skills. The traineeship I have through them is supplying me with such valuable workplace experience, and a foot in the door for any future career opportunities.

What are your future aspirations?

I have always seen myself working in marketing, due to the creativity it demands. I can see myself working solely on promoting ESG campaigns, a department which is thriving at the moment. Promoting the importance of its role in the sector in a creative and innovative way is huge aspiration for me.

How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?

An amazing experience, not only shaping my career: but my life. I am so proud of not only myself, but the amazing organisation Investment20/20 has grown into, helping so many young people into fantastic jobs.
