Why do you enjoy your job?

Technical Marketing was something I had never heard of when applying for jobs through the Investment20/20 scheme. I always knew I was interested in marketing and being a history student, I drew from my skills in research, spot checking and dealing with copious amounts of literature to aid me in landing this role.

To sum up, technical marketing reviews all of the marketing material being distributed by the firm and ensures it is compliant with the rules the Financial Conduct Authority has set, as well as the standard the company narrates. The role also has a number of other tasks such as reviewing the company’s KIID documents and working closely with other teams on various projects ensuring we are being compliant.

This role enables me to view a multitude of literature encompassing many different aspects of the firm and therefore learn as much as I can. It is enjoyable as it means I get exposure to many different teams across the business and can get involved with a range of projects that one wouldn’t necessarily have access to, communicating with all different teams and gaining exposure you wouldn’t get elsewhere.

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

One of the most challenging things about the job is knowing the importance your role has in the business as well as task management. Being able to prioritise and understand what documents need to be looked at first is crucial as there’s multiple deadlines that need to be met.

How did you get into your job?

I entered the Investment20/20 scheme straight from university. I had previously done work experience for my firm during my time at university and heard about the scheme through them. Investment20/20 has enabled me to be part of a wider culture that connects graduates and school leavers across the industry. It has helped me gain insightful knowledge into my firm which other schemes might not have necessarily allowed me to do, as well as meet other interns across the business at different firms, creating a network of people who are in the same position as you. The scheme gives you access to everything you need to shape your career as it creates possibilities for you to network and impress individuals at your own firm, as well as other key people in the industry.

What are your future aspirations?

Having worked at an Asset Manager I definitely think a career in the finance sector is where I want to be. However, just making sure I am in a role or position to develop and branch out is key for me as I enjoy engaging with multiple teams and working on large projects.

How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?

Insightful, engaging and the perfect way to start a career.
